Dr Gregory Chang
Dr Gregory Chang graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science in 1993 from The University of Western Australia. He began his dental career in the North West town of Port Hedland and the surrounding aboriginal communities of Yandeyarra, Nullagine, Marble Bar, Jigalong, Punmu, and Cotton Creek. After two and a half years he transferred to the metropolitan government clinic at Warwick, where he worked for a further three years. During that time he worked in other practices in the metropolitan area from Joondalup to Gosnells; settling in Ballajura for 4 years. After 10 years of working for other people he decided to start his own practice. He prides himself on continuing education to keep abreast of new procedures and techniques. Travel to the eastern states are sometimes required if the courses are not available here in Western Australia.
Dr Gregory Chang is a member for the ADA WA Branch. He served on the Dental Awareness Mouth committee in 2002, 2003, 2004. He is also an active member of the esteemed The Dental Study Group of Western Australia: serving as president in 2011, and as committee member 2010-2014. He is also a current member of The Australian Prosthodontic Society (WA branch) and, The Australian Society of Periodontology (WA branch) serving as secretary for the group in 2005, 2006. Dr Gregory Chang was also a clinical tutor to the dental students in 2000-2002. He still continues to mentor students in the dental field including dental assistants, dental therapists and dental hygienist in the practice. He is a registered dentist with the Australian Dental board.
Dr Gregory Chang has interests in facial aesthetics providing Botox and filler treatments to his patients. Wrinkle relaxers, smoothing of facial lines can be managed at the same time as having dental treatment. To have great looking skin, using scientific and clinically proven skin care products is what Dr Chang recommends to extend the treatment times with Botox and fillers. He is an independent consultant for Rodan and Fields skin care range. These facial treatments compliments the overall smile make over dental treatment that his patients receive.
In his spare time, Dr Chang spends it with his partner and their 4 young children. He volunteers at his daughters’ schools with the occasional presentation on dental health. Online word games of Scrabble and Words with Friends are challenges that Dr Chang revels in.
Dr Aakash Patel
Dr Aakash Patel is a general dentist at The Heights Laser Dental Centre. He grew up in Perth and graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science from the University of Western Australia in 2014, during which he spent time in both metropolitan and rural dental clinics. Since graduation, he has worked in private practice, joining the team at The Heights Laser Dental Centre in September 2015.
Dr Aakash Patel enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and enjoys spending time with his patient’s chair-side to ensure that patients feel comfortable and relaxed throughout the procedure. Dr Patel is a Registered Dentist with the Australian Dental Board, and a member of the ADA WA Branch. As a member, he enjoys attending continuing professional education events and seminars to refresh his knowledge and learn novel procedures to incorporate into everyday practice.
Outside of clinical practice, Dr Patel is a wine and coffee enthusiast who loves all things food related – especially brunch! He enjoys visiting cafés and wineries with friends and family, and going out for exploratory walks and to the beach. At home, you’ll find him cooking, watching the lifestyle channel on television, or spending some quality time with his piano.
Mary is a dental hygienist who joined the team in early 2016. Graduating from The University of Newcastle in 2015, she relocated to Perth. Mary is passionate about providing quality patient care with a focus on preventive education and preventive treatment. Her friendly personality allows her patients to feel at ease whilst helping to achieve good oral health. She is a member of the Dental Hygienist Association Inc. and continuously thrives to further advance her knowledge and clinical technique. Mary’s other interests include exploring, outdoor activities and jigsaw puzzles.
Emma was born in Indonesia and immigrated to Australia in 2010 with her Australian husband and two kids. She is degree educated in the Hospitality Industry and multi-lingual, speaking Bahasa, Malay and English. She made a career change on arrival in Australia, obtaining a Certificate IV in Dental Assisting. Her first role was at The Heights Laser Dental Centre, joining in 2013. She attends Infection Control training annually and trains the other members of staff in the latest practices in the field. Emma is a coffee enthusiast and loves scuba diving, especially in tropical water in South East Asia – however Scuba Diving in the Red Sea in Egypt and The Caribbean are definitely on her bucket list.
